In my disbelief the next morning there were our full-to-the-brim cans smiling at me at 8am. As my sleepy brain sorted out that this was Wednesday morning (the day we usually wake up to empty bins, no way!) I’m pretty sure I heard a “Nah nah nah nah nah” taunt lilting on the wind. I was crushed, as I remembered our company and how we would all get to enjoy seeing our trash pile as they enter our home.

Our sincere Thank You goes here: Thank you for taking my call and for being so pleasant and patient on the phone as I explained that I might be the first idiot with the audacity to think they could call in and have the trash magically picked up at a later time. Not only did you say I wasn’t alone, but that for a very reasonable fee we could have our trash picked up in the next 24 hours. (Whew!! Best news I’ve heard in a while!) Also, a very relieved Thank You goes to our hero driver who saved our weekend and came back around to get the trash/recycling we so sheepishly wheeled out at 8:30am. I am sure you don’t hear it enough as most of us are sleeping when you do your route- but you are amazing! Thanks for doing what you do!

In addition, I learned a lot. I probably ordered the “wrong box” with lack of information. In the future I am likely to order larger boxes and to understand the process of delivery, filling, pick up. This is because of how YOU communicated. While I know little about demolition, business, or any part of the construction industry—-I do have a Ph.D. in communication and have worked in the field of communication and human relations for over 30 years. You Communicate well and are a valuable asset to your company!

This company is owned by Jim Ratto, his wife and their 2 sons, all of whom live in Sonoma County. Our truck and bin stickers are printed by local graphic companies, our newsletters are mailed though a local mailhouse, our recycle guides and other outreach materials are printed by a local printer and a Go Local member.

As a service provider of Sonoma County, North Bay Corporation is contributing to the welfare of the local community. We employ over 350 Sonoma County residents, filling positions ranging from drivers, recycling sorters, mechanics, dispatchers, customer service representatives and outreach staff.  By recycling locally, we are able to consolidate materials and ready them for the commodity market in a close proximity to where they were generated. Because cans, bottles and other recyclables don’t have to travel a long distance to materials recovery facility, we are able to lessen our impact on the environment.

These new eco-friendly split-body vehicles decrease the number of trips through neighborhoods by one-third, while inside two separate compartments keep the materials separate. Collecting two materials in the dual compartment trucks decreased the amount of fuel and energy used, not to mention reduced traffic on highways and neighborhoods.
