Reduce Single Use presents Sonoma County's Single Use Bag Forum
February 2, 2011
Santa Rosa City Hall, Council Chambers
90 Santa Rosa Ave., Santa Rosa
Doors open at 8:15
Program from 8:45-10:45
Banning plastic bags is generating a lot of attention, along with questions about single use paper bags. Recently the whole country of Italy, the city of San Jose and the County of Los Angeles have banned the distribution of single use plastic bags. Governments large and small are recognizing that they can make a difference in helping the environment by leading the way in the reduction of single use bags. This forum will help to further the issue and its implications and aims to lay the groundwork for the best course of action for Sonoma County.
Speakers at the forum will include officials from Marin and San Francisco, representatives from the plastic bag industry, large grocers and the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency. Keynote speaker Carol Misseldine, of Green Cities California, will share news about 'bag bans' in other areas and discuss the nuts and bolts of ordinance drafting. Santa Rosa Mayor Ernesto Olivares will welcome attendees to the forum.
There will be a free bag exchange and hand-out for attendees to take away and use or share with friends and family who need reusable bags.
