Composting
Redwood Empire Disposal is proud to offer a pilot Commercial Compost Collection Program. By capturing food scraps or organic materials generated onsite for composting, you can keep those materials out of your garbage and out of the landfill.
This program can currently accept vegetative food waste and other vegetative matter. These materials are taken to Sonoma Compost and composted into high grade organic composts. Participating in the Commercial Compost Collection Program is easy, helps manage your disposal costs, and returns nutrients to local farms.
Redwood Empire Disposal outreach staff is available to visit your site and provide staff trainings, cart decals, and internal posters. Please call 585-5273 for more information or to sign up.
Materials Accepted:
- Fruit and Vegetables (including pits and nuts)
- Vegetable Kitchen Prep Scraps
- Coffee Grounds & Filters
- Tea Bags
- Breads, Grains, Pasta & Baked Goods
- Eggshells
- Floral Arrangements, Leaves, Weeds, Grass & Yard Trimmings
- Non-coated Paper Products such as Paper Plates & Napkins
Not Accepted:
- Meat, Fish & Bones
- Glassware
- Cutlery
- Cardboard (including waxed)
- Styrofoam & Take-out Containers
- Coffee Cups
- Compostable Plastics
- Plastic Bags
