BATTERIES — HOUSEHOLD

Rechargeable batteries are typically found in cordless and cell phones, laptops, power tools and cameras. Types include lithium ion, NiCad, nickel metal hydride and small sealed lead-acid batteries. Please dispose of all household batteries properly. All types of household batteries are accepted at the Novato Recycling Center and Novato Fire Stations. Please tape the ends of lithium ion batteries prior to disposal.

PHARMACEUTICALS

Do not flush unused medicines down the drain. Wastewater treatment plants are not designed to treat these low levels of synthetic pollutants, which can cause harm to fish and wildlife. It’s currently recommended that you crush solid medications or dissolve in water and mix them with kitty litter or any absorbent material, place in a sealed bag and deposit in the trash.
