Q: Sometimes it looks like two commodities (garbage, recycle and/or green waste) is being dumped into the same truck. Is that true?
A: Yes, they're actually being put into what we call a split-body truck! These eco-friendly trucks decrease the number of trips through neighborhoods by one-third, while the two compartment trucks keep the materials completely separate so they aren't being mixed together. Collecting two materials in the dual compartment trucks decreases the amount of fuel and energy used, as well as reduces traffic on highways and in neighborhoods.
Q: What if I have additional garbage to dispose of that doesn't fit in my cart?
A: If you have extra garbage that won't fit into your cart (with the lid closed), you can contact our office by 3 PM the day before your regular collection day to order extra service. There is a small fee for each additional bag collected, but your driver will not collect extra garbage bags unless scheduled to do so. Find the customer service number for your area under "Contact Us" to schedule an extra pick-up.
